Engine technology is evolving rapidly. The 2017 Audi SQ5 TDI is an obvious beneficiary to this evolution. Audi’s small and stylish SUV gets a highly-advanced powertrain this time around with some other exciting improvements thrown in.
The SQ5 TDI formerly featured a twin-turbo setup. Audi decided to go with just one turbocharger this time around, keeping the engine a lot cooler. The new setup also benefits from the ValveLift System, which can vary the lift of the valves depending on factors like engine speed and load.
The 2017 Audi SQ5 TDI engine setup now includes an electric compressor under the hood. This creates the added benefit of more immediate power–arriving in less than 250 milliseconds in fact–by forcing air into the intake manifold. As far as handling is concerned, the new SQ5 TDI will feature active anti-roll bars.
The Old World will see the 2017 Audi SQ5 TDI in April of next year. US availability is still under question.
