Make the Commitment to Drive Distraction-Free

By now, we are all aware that texting while driving is incredibly dangerous, but talking on your phone, even with a hands-free device, can be just as bad. That is why April is recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Much of the technology that is being added to cars today can be just as distracting as holding your phone in your hand. According to the National Safety Council, drivers talking on their cell phones—hands-free or otherwise—are four times more likely to get in an accident. And, an estimated 21% of all crashes in the United States involve drivers who were talking on their phones.

Now, this doesn’t mean you have to drive in complete silence. If you have passengers in your car, you can talk to them. The difference is that an adult passenger acts as an extra set of eyes and can adjust their talking when driving gets challenging, plus point out potential road hazards. Someone on the other end of a cell phone can’t do any of these things.

If you’re ready to make a change in your driving habits and stop using your phone in all ways, you can sign this online pledge. We at Gossett Audi want to challenge all of our customers to make the commitment to drive distraction-free.
